DTPG High Voltage Hipot Tester

The DTPG high voltage hipot tester controls transformers up to 50kV AC and/or DC and can be presented as a single rack unit, 2 element rackable units or separated units (control one side and transformer on the other) according to the main european standards.

Key applications for the DTPG dielectric strength tester are:

test laboratories, production lines and high speed production lines for testing cable, capacitors, motors, electrical modules, switchgear, insulating, materials, connectors, relays, transformers, bushings, fuses and arrestors.

Technical Specification

DIELECTRIC STRENGTH TEST FUNCTION

Output voltage

  • 100V (for 5000V full scale) or 1000V (for 50000V full scale) to Umax AC (50 or 60Hz - to be specified when ordered)
  • Accuracy : ± (2.5% + 2U) of the reading voltage (1U=1% of the full scale) through motorised variac (24 seconds are necessary to reach the full scale), with the detection modes :ΔI, IMAX or ΔI+IMAX. Voltage regulation is made by a motorised variac.

Voltage reading

  • On a digital kilovoltmeter connected on the output terminals
  • Accuracy : ± (1.5% + 1U) of the displayed voltage (1U=1% of the full scale)
  • Display : 3 digits (example : 25.0 kV)
  • Resolution : 3 digits (example : 500 points for Umax = 50.0 kV)

Regulation

  • Less than 3% for a mains variation of ± 10%

Current

  • Short circuit : approximately 10 x In

Current reading

  • On a shunt resistor inserted in the test circuit
  • Accuracy : ± (2.5% + 2U) of the displayed voltage (1U=1% of the full scale)
  • Display : 3 digits (example : 99.9 mA)
  • Resolution : 3 digits (example : 999 points for Imax = 9.99 mA)

Breakdown detection

  • “DELTATEST” detector adjusted for ΔI = 10% of the full scale ± 10% with 10 μsec. ± 20%.
  • Total insensitivity to current due to the resistance and the capacitance of the device under test
  • “IMAX” detection by maximum current adjustable from (0.004xfull scale) to (Pmax/Umax) in AC voltage by current steps of 1 digit (example : for 999 mA, steps are 1 mA, for 20.0 mA, steps are 0.1 mA)
  • DELTATEST and IMAX mode combination

Breakdown indication

  • By visual (LCD screen and LED) and sound

signal

  • Breakdown voltage and current are stored on the LCD display (for Imax only)
  • HV primary transformer disconnected through contactors when the output voltage is switched off

IMIN threshold function

  • Detects whether the probe is properly connected to the specimen under test
  • Adjustable from 0 to full scale

DC voltage (option)

  • Through external diode
  • Negative pole grounded
  • Ripple = 100%
  • Single wave rectified signal (not filtered)

Timer

  • Rise time and fall time adjustment from 27 sec. up to 999 sec. in AC voltage
  • Hold time adjustment from 1 sec. up to 999 sec. in AC voltage (up to 60 hours with DTMGPro PC software)
  • Quickmeas (option) in PLC and RS232 from 200 ms test time for high speed production testing
  • Display : 3 digits (example : 999 sec)

Storage

  • 10 test parameter (voltage, threshold, time…) sets can be stored
